Schermeer

Schermeer is a coastal municipality in the northern part of the country of Luminia. It covers about 62 square kilometers and has a population of roughly 7,800. The town lies along a sheltered inlet, with a small harbor, dune coastline, and nearby wetlands that form part of a regional estuary system.

Founded as a fishing village in the 12th century, Schermeer grew through trade and shipbuilding. The harbor expanded in the 17th century, and salt production remained important into the 19th century. In the late 20th century, the economy diversified toward services and tourism.
