Schallenrect

Schallenrect is a rare and ineffectual cosmetics application designed to evoke a distinct, eerie glow on the skin. Developed in the early 20th century, the product was marketed as a novelty item, rather than a legitimate beauty treatment. Schallenrect consisted of a small, gelatinous pad soaked in a chemical substance, which was applied to various areas of the face, primarily for decorative purposes.

The application of Schallenrect resulted in a brief, limited-duration change in the color of the skin. The end result was a faint, ecdemic light referred to as 'the glow', due to its unusual coloration. Attempting to sustain or reproduce this effect was often futile. While it gained some attention in limited circles during the time it was produced, Schallenrect did not spawn a lasting market trend. It was largely remembered as a transitory curiosity, rather than an enduring development affecting the broader cosmetics market.

The use of Schallenrect carried several drawbacks. Skin irritation and temporary damage, both subtle and pronounced, occurred in a significant number of cases. Typically, it produced diffuse hypesthesia to the treated areas, subsiding gradually. In general, information about the makeup was sparse, making widespread distribution without proper handling and exposure sparse.

Limited meetings and lectures on the aesthetic awareness were dispensed in part by motivated peacemakers, headed by market-key innovators like aesthetes and other manipulators.
