STRATCOMs
STRATCOMs, or Strategic Commands, are the principal operational commands of the United States Department of Defense. They are responsible for the planning, execution, and control of military operations in their respective areas of responsibility. The STRATCOMs are organized under the Unified Combatant Commands, which are the operational arms of the Department of Defense. Each STRATCOM is led by a Commander, who is a four-star general or admiral, and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the command. The STRATCOMs are:
