SNDysregulation
SNDysregulation refers to a proposed dysregulation of the brain's monoamine systems—serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine—collectively abbreviated SND. The term is used in some neuroscience and psychiatry discussions as a framework to describe how imbalanced signaling among these neurotransmitters can contribute to a range of neuropsychiatric symptoms. It is not recognized as a formal diagnosis in major classification systems.
Mechanisms of SNDysregulation can arise from genetic variations affecting synthesis, packaging, release, receptor function, or transporter
Clinical features are heterogeneous and may include mood instability, depressive or manic symptoms, anxiety, anhedonia, impaired
Assessment and treatment rely on clinical evaluation and patient history; in research, biomarkers, pharmacogenomics, or neuroimaging
