SIMATIC is a brand of Siemens AG for a family of industrial automation products and software. The line covers programmable logic controllers, human-machine interfaces, communications, and process control systems used in machine and factory automation as well as process industries. SIMATIC components are designed for scalability, reliability, and integration within Siemens’ Totally Integrated Automation approach.

Among its hardware, SIMATIC includes classic PLCs such as the SIMATIC S5 and the modern S7 family (for example S7-1200 and S7-1500), modular input/output systems, distributed I/O, industrial PCs, motor drives, and safety devices. The product line also encompasses safety components and rugged variants under the SIPLUS designation for harsh environments.

Software and engineering are supported by STEP 7 and the Totally Integrated Automation Portal (TIA Portal), which provides programming, configuration, diagnostics, and documentation in a unified environment.
