SDN48 is a Japanese idol group formed in 2016 as a sister group to AKB48, part of the broader AKB48 family system. The group is based in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, and is managed by the same production company, AKB48 Inc. The name "SDN" stands for "Sendai," while "48" references the original AKB48 group, which was named after the 48 members who auditioned for its founding in 2005.

SDN48 follows the same structure as other AKB48 groups, consisting of teams divided by performance roles, such as center positions and team captains. The group emphasizes teamwork, regular auditions for new members, and a strong fan interaction presence through concerts, radio shows, and social media.
