Miyagi

Miyagi refers primarily to Miyagi Prefecture, a prefecture in the Tōhoku region of Japan. It is located on the eastern coast of Honshu along the Pacific Ocean, and its capital and largest city is Sendai. The prefecture is bordered by Aomori Prefecture to the north, Iwate Prefecture to the west, Yamagata Prefecture to the west, and Fukushima Prefecture to the south.

Geography and economy within Miyagi feature a rugged coastline, inland plains, and notable coastal areas such as Matsushima Bay, celebrated as one of Japan’s scenic views. The local economy centers on fishing and seafood processing, agriculture including rice and fruit production, and a range of manufacturing activities such as machinery and electronics. Other uses: Miyagi is also a Japanese surname and place name. Mr. Miyagi is a fictional karate master in The Karate Kid film series, renowned as the mentor to the protagonist.
