Rwandas

Rwandas is not a standard English term. In formal writing, the people of Rwanda are referred to as Rwandans, and the country is Rwanda. The plural "Rwandas" may be encountered as a nonstandard or mistaken form and is generally avoided in reliable sources.

Rwanda is a landlocked country in East Africa bordered by Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Its capital and largest city is Kigali. The country is characterized by its mountainous terrain, numerous lakes, and protected natural areas such as volcanoes and Nyungwe Forest.

Demographics and language: Rwanda has a population of about 13 to 13.8 million, with rapid urbanization. The official languages are Kinyarwanda, French, and English, with Swahili increasingly used in business and public life. Historically, the population has been grouped as Hutu, Tutsi, and Twa, though the state promotes a non-ethnic national identity.

History and governance: The area has precolonial kingdoms and was colonized by Germany and later Belgium. It gained independence in 1962. After the 1994 genocide, Rwanda undertook political and economic reforms, restored stability, and pursued reconciliation and development. The government is led by the presidency and a multiparty system with dominant party representation.

Economy and culture: Rwanda's economy emphasizes agriculture, particularly coffee and tea exports, along with services, tourism, and information technology. The country has invested in modernization of infrastructure, healthcare, and education. Cultural life includes music, dance, art, and cuisine that reflect a blend of traditional and contemporary influences.
