Rupturplader
Rupturplader, commonly known as rupture discs or burst discs, are non-reclosing safety devices used to protect pressure vessels and piping from overpressure. The device consists of a thin metal or composite diaphragm engineered to rupture at a predetermined relief pressure. When process pressure reaches the set point, the disc bursts, providing an unobstructed path for the contained fluid or gas to escape. After rupture, the disc cannot reseal and must be replaced; in many installations a backup relief device is used.
Materials and designs vary by application. Rupturplader are manufactured in a range of materials, including stainless
Installation and maintenance: They are mounted at vessel outlets or in-line vents, in flanged or welded connections,
Standards and testing: Rupturplader are manufactured to international standards and validated by burst tests. Common references
Applications: chemical processing, oil and gas, power generation, water treatment.
