RoomExperimente

RoomExperimente is a term used to describe a series of interdisciplinary, room-scale installations and experiments that explore how people perceive space, sound, light, and materiality. Initiated in the early 2010s by a diverse group of artists and researchers, the project situates visitors inside configurable rooms where ordinary architecture becomes a site of inquiry. Each installation invites embodied interaction, inviting participants to move, listen, and observe how context shapes perception.

The approach brings together art, architecture, cognitive science, and technology. Installations commonly employ sensors, actuators, and

Representative works include environments that manipulate acoustics to alter sound localization, passages where light quality changes

Critics highlight RoomExperimente for its methodical openness—outcomes are often provisional and depend on interaction. The project
