RollLaminatoren, commonly referred to as roll laminators, are machines designed to apply protective laminated film to printed materials from rolls rather than from pre-cut pouches. They are used in offices, print shops, schools, and signage operations to produce durable, water- and tear-resistant outputs. Roll laminators can operate with hot or cold films.

Most models consist of a feed system, a roll of laminating film, heated and/or pressure rollers, and an exit mechanism. In hot-roll laminators, the film is thermo-activated and bonds to the substrate as it passes between heated rollers; the result is a strong, often high-gloss finish. Cold-roll laminators use pressure-sensitive film that adheres without heat, which reduces risk to heat-sensitive materials and minimizes distortion but can incur slower throughput.

Common widths range from small office machines suitable for A3 or A4 sheets to wide-format units for posters, banners, and maps. Some machines laminate from roll stock continuously, while others admit smaller documents via end-fed widths.

Advantages include rapid production, durable protection, good clarity, and the ability to handle large sizes without the need for individual pouches. Limitations involve potential heat damage in hot variants on delicate media, film cost, possible curling, and the need for regular roller cleaning and temperature/pressure calibration.

Maintenance involves keeping rollers clean, using the recommended film types, avoiding jams, and following the manufacturer’s safety instructions. RollLaminatoren continue to be a core tool for preserving graphics and documents in commercial and educational settings.
