Risikorespons

Risikorespons, or risk response, refers to the set of actions taken to address identified risks in order to reduce their likelihood, minimize their impact, or capitalize on associated opportunities. It is a core element of risk management and is typically performed after risks have been identified, assessed, and prioritized according to their probability and potential consequences. The goal of risikorespons is to align risk treatment with an organization’s objectives and risk appetite.

Common risikorespons strategies are divided between negative risks (threats) and positive risks (opportunities). For threats, typical responses include avoiding the risk, transferring it to another party, mitigating its probability or impact, or accepting it when it falls within tolerance. For opportunities, strategies include exploiting the opportunity to ensure realization, sharing or partnering to enhance value, and enhancing the chance or benefit of the opportunity. In both cases, organizations may choose a combination of responses and define residual risk—the level of risk remaining after the response is implemented.

The risikorespons process involves identifying appropriate response options, evaluating costs and benefits, assigning ownership, and integrating the chosen strategies into plans, budgets, and governance structures. Contingency plans, trigger conditions, and thresholds are often specified to guide timely action if risk conditions change. After implementation, monitoring and review are essential to assess effectiveness and adjust responses as needed.

Risikorespons is applied across contexts such as project management, enterprise risk management, cybersecurity, finance, and operations. Its effectiveness depends on timely decision-making, clear accountability, and alignment with overall risk management objectives and resource constraints.
