Rillane

Rillane is a town and administrative district in the fictional nation of Eldara, located in the northern lowlands along the River Rill. The municipality covers about 60 square kilometers and has a temperate climate with mild winters and warm summers. The surrounding countryside is dominated by dairy farms and fruit orchards.

Rillane arose in the medieval period around a monastic site and market square, receiving a town charter in 1688. The arrival of the railway in the 19th century linked it to regional markets and spurred growth in manufacturing and services. Today, the town functions as a local service center for nearby farms and villages.

The economy centers on agriculture, particularly dairy and apples, complemented by light manufacturing and logistics. A small industrial park on the outskirts houses several family-owned businesses. Public services include a hospital annex, a high school, and municipal offices.

As of 2020, the population was about 5,400 residents. The community is predominantly Eldaran-speaking, with small minority groups. The age distribution is stable, and the town has relatively low unemployment compared with the national average.

Cultural life centers on the riverside park and the annual Harvest Festival, which features local crafts, music, and foods such as apples and honey. Landmarks include the 17th-century town hall and St. Catherine's Church.

Rillane is governed by a mayor and a nine-member town council elected on a five-year cycle. It belongs to Eldara's Province of Northshore and participates in regional planning and environmental initiatives.
