Riksrådets
Riksrådets, commonly referred to as the Privy Council or Council of the Realm, was the principal governing body of the Kingdom of Sweden in the medieval and early modern periods. Composed mainly of high nobility and senior church officials, it served as the king’s counseling body and, at times, as a central locus of political power. Members participated in deliberations on legislation, foreign policy, taxation, and administration, and the council often acted as a partner in governance, especially when the monarch was a minor or unable to rule effectively.
