Ressursimahukad is a term used to describe both a geographic bioregion and a governance framework for natural resources in a coastal-hinterland area of the fictional Serenian archipelago. In this article, the term refers to the interconnected system of ecosystems, communities, and legal structures that coordinate resource use, conservation, and local development within defined boundaries.

Name etymology: The component 'ressurs' draws from Scandinavian languages meaning resource, while 'mahukad' is a local term for corridor or passage, reflecting the region's role as a resource pathway.

Geography and ecology: It covers a coastal belt with estuaries, mangroves, and patchy highland forests, interlinked by waterways and a network of protected areas.

Governance and economy: A multi-stakeholder council binds municipalities, indigenous communities, and civil society groups; decisions on harvest quotas, licensing, and land-use are made through consensus or majority vote with mechanisms for monitoring and accountability. The region relies on sustainable fisheries, forestry, mineral resources, and growing renewable energy projects such as small-scale hydropower and wind. Revenues support local services, habitat restoration, and climate adaptation.

History: The concept emerged from cross-border cooperation in the 1990s and was formalized in a regional charter in the 2010s. It has since expanded to include twelve municipalities and three indigenous communities.
