Rekonstruktioon

Rekonstruktioon is the process of rebuilding or restoring something to a previous state or function. In Estonian usage the term covers a range of disciplines that seek to reconstruct form, structure, events, or conditions from available evidence. Rekonstruktioon can be physical, historical, or informational, and may involve tangible objects, human tissues, or interpretations of past events.

In medicine, rekonstruktioon refers to reconstructive surgery and related procedures aimed at restoring appearance and function after injury, disease, or birth defects. Techniques include tissue transfers such as flaps, bone grafts, implants, and microsurgery. Planning relies on imaging, surgical planning, and sometimes regenerative medicine or tissue engineering. The aim is to achieve functional restoration with acceptable aesthetics and durability.

In archaeology and history, rekonstruktioon means recreating past structures, sites, or events from incomplete material remains.
