Receptivt

Receptivt is an adjective used in Swedish and Norwegian to describe the ability to receive, perceive, or understand stimuli, information, or language. It denotes receptivity as a passive or absorptive capacity, in contrast to productive or expressive abilities. The term is commonly used in linguistics, psychology, education, and neuroscience.

In linguistics and language pedagogy, receptive skills refer to comprehension—listening and reading—whereas productive skills refer to speaking and writing.
