Reanimaatioon

Reanimaatioon is a Finnish term that translates to "resuscitation" in English. It refers to the medical procedures used to restore life or consciousness to a person who has stopped breathing or whose heart has stopped beating. This can occur due to various reasons such as cardiac arrest, drowning, suffocation, or severe trauma.

The primary goal of reanimaatioon is to maintain oxygen supply to the brain and vital organs until professional medical help can arrive or until the person's breathing and circulation can be restored. Basic life support, often referred to as basic reanimaatioon, typically involves cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). CPR consists of chest compressions and rescue breaths. Chest compressions help to circulate blood throughout the body, while rescue breaths provide oxygen.

Advanced reanimaatioon, performed by trained medical professionals, may include the use of medications, defibrillation (an electrical shock to the heart to restore a normal rhythm), and airway management techniques. The effectiveness of reanimaatioon depends on several factors, including the underlying cause of the medical emergency, the promptness of the intervention, and the patient's overall health. Public awareness and training in basic life support are crucial for improving survival rates in emergency situations.
