Reacting
Reacting is the process by which an entity responds to a stimulus or trigger. In living organisms, this can be automatic or intentional, reflexive or planned. Reactions can be physiological, such as a pupil constricting in bright light, or behavioral, such as stepping back from danger. Reactions to stimuli involve perception, evaluation, and response selection, and may be followed by action or hormonal adjustments.
