Rautavaaran
Rautavaaran, formally known as the municipality of Rautavaara, is situated in the North Karelia region of Finland, lying approximately 70 kilometres south of the regional capital Joensuu. The name Rautavaara translates directly to “iron rock,” a reflection of the area's abundant iron ore deposits and long-standing mining heritage. According to recent statistics, the population of Rautavaara is around 4,000 residents, with a slight rural majority and an equal mix of Finnish and Swedish language speakers, though Finnish is predominant.
