Rattateeds

Rattateeds are a fictional species originating from the planet Xylos in the Starbound universe. They are known for their small size, rodent-like appearance, and burrowing habits. Rattateeds possess a furry coat, typically in shades of brown or gray, with long whiskers and a prehensile tail. Their diet consists primarily of seeds, roots, and small insects found underground. They are a common sight in the temperate and tropical biomes of Xylos, often found in grasslands and forests where they can easily dig their extensive tunnel systems. These tunnels serve as protection from predators and as storage for their food. Rattateeds are generally nocturnal creatures, active during the night and resting in their burrows during the day. While not inherently aggressive, they can be territorial and will defend their homes if threatened. They reproduce quickly, contributing to their widespread presence across Xylos. Interactions with other species vary, with some viewing them as a nuisance due to their burrowing activities and others as a food source. Their distinct chittering sounds are often heard emanating from underground.
