Rajztanítás

Rajztanítás, or drawing instruction, is a component of art education focused on teaching students to observe, interpret, and represent the visual world through drawing. In Hungarian education, it is typically part of the visual arts curriculum and is taught from primary school onward, with progression from basic skills to more complex representation and creative expression. The subject aims to develop perceptual accuracy, understanding of form, proportion, perspective, light and shade, texture, and composition, as well as visual literacy and problem-solving abilities useful across subjects.

Students may practice contour drawing, gesture drawing, observational studies of objects, still life, landscapes, and the human figure, followed by development of more finished works. Materials and techniques typically include graphite pencils, charcoal, ink, and various papers, with basic exercises designed to be accessible. In recent decades, digital drawing tools and graphic design concepts have been integrated into curricula, reflecting broader shifts toward visual literacy and design thinking.
