REMon

REMon is a software framework designed for real-time monitoring of distributed computing environments. The acronym REMon is commonly rendered as Real-time Event Monitoring, though some deployments use Resource and Event Monitoring to reflect broader scope. REMon collects telemetry from heterogeneous systems, correlates events, and provides alerts and dashboards to operators.

Architecture comprises several modular layers: data collectors (agents or agentless interfaces) that ingest metrics from servers, containers, network devices, and cloud services; an event processing engine that normalizes and correlates data; a storage layer for time-series data; and a presentation layer with dashboards and notification channels. The framework exposes an API for integration with ticketing systems, incident management, and automation tools.

Key features include extensive metric coverage (CPU, memory, disk I/O, network latency), event correlation and rule-based alerting, customizable dashboards, role-based access control, and pluggable integrations via plug-ins or adapters. It supports common monitoring protocols such as SNMP, SSH, WMI, and RESTful endpoints, and can be deployed on-premises, in the cloud, or in hybrid environments.

History and usage: REMon originated as a community-driven project intended to unify monitoring across diverse environments. It has seen multiple major releases enabling scalable data collection, improved query performance, and expanded integrations. It is used by IT operations teams to observe service health, support capacity planning, and guide incident response.
