QuelThalas

Quel'Thalas is a fictional kingdom located on the northeastern continent of the world of Azeroth, within the Warcraft video game franchise. It is the ancestral homeland of the high elves, also known as the sin'dorei. The kingdom is characterized by its ancient elven architecture, lush forests, and a deep connection to magic, particularly the Sunwell, a sacred font of arcane energy.

Historically, Quel'Thalas was a powerful and isolationist nation. The high elves were known for their immense magical prowess and their long lifespan, often observing the world from afar. Their capital city, Silvermoon City, was once a magnificent marvel of elven design. The kingdom suffered a devastating invasion by the orcish Horde during the Second War, which resulted in significant destruction and loss of life.

Following the invasion, Quel'Thalas underwent further tragedy when the death knight Arthas Menethil, leading the Scourge, assaulted the kingdom and corrupted the Sunwell. This event led to the deaths of many high elves and forced the survivors to seek a new path. The prince, Kael'thas Sunstrider, led his people away from Quel'Thalas, eventually becoming known as the blood elves.

In the present day of the Warcraft lore, Quel'Thalas is a fractured and recovering land. A portion of the high elves remained, becoming known as the blood elves and aligning themselves with the Horde. The remaining parts of the kingdom are still largely in ruins, with ongoing efforts to rebuild and reclaim their lost glory. The land itself bears the scars of past conflicts, but its natural beauty persists, hinting at its former splendor.
