Qadunite

Qadunite is a religious movement that originated in the early 20th century in Lebanon. It is primarily associated with the Druze faith, a monotheistic and esoteric interpretation of Islam. The movement was founded by Shemuel Hazim, a Lebanese Druze spiritual leader.

The Qadunite movement emphasizes the importance of spiritual guidance and authority. Adherents believe in the concept of the Qa'im, or the ultimate savior, who will bring salvation and enlightenment to humanity. Qadunites also emphasize the role of the learned and spiritual leaders, the ulemas, in guiding the community and interpreting the scriptures.

Qadunites generally reside in Lebanon, particularly in the Mount Lebanon and the Anti-Lebanon regions. Theirs is a predominantly Druze community, and they have maintained close cultural and religious ties with mainstream Druze populations. However, Qadunite practices and teachings may differ in some respects from those prevailing among other Druze groups.

The Qadunite community is estimated to number around 2,000 members. While it has historically maintained a somewhat separate identity within the broader Druze community, Qadunites also participate in interfaith dialogue and exchange with other Druze and Islamic groups. Overall, Qadunite represents a distinctive expression of Druze spirituality and a regional tradition that remains an essential part of Lebanese cultural heritage.
