Põletikutegude

Põletikutegude is a term used in Estonian to refer to acts of arson, meaning the deliberate setting of fires to property, land, or structures. The word is built from the verb tegu (act) and the root relating to burning, with the genitive plural form kasutatuna in legal and academic contexts to describe multiple such actions. The concept identifies intentional fire setting and distinguishes it from accidental fires or natural causes.

Acts described as põletikutegude typically involve a person deliberately igniting a fire with the aim of causing damage, destruction, or fear. They can target buildings, vehicles, forests, or other property and may occur as isolated incidents or as part of a broader pattern.
