PõhjaAasia

PõhjaAasia is a term used to refer to Northern Asia. This vast geographical region encompasses a significant portion of Eurasia, stretching from the Ural Mountains in the west to the Pacific Ocean in the east. It includes Siberia, the Russian Far East, and sometimes parts of Central Asia depending on the definition used. The climate is generally continental, characterized by long, cold winters and short, cool summers, with significant variations across its immense territory. Vast forests, known as taiga, dominate much of the landscape, alongside extensive grasslands and tundra in the northernmost areas.

The population of PõhjaAasia is relatively sparse, with most inhabitants concentrated in the southern regions and along major rivers. Historically, the area has been home to various indigenous peoples, including Turkic, Mongolic, Tungistic, and Paleo-Siberian groups. Russian colonization and settlement, particularly from the 17th century onwards, have also significantly shaped the demographics and cultural landscape. Despite its remoteness, PõhjaAasia is rich in natural resources, including timber, minerals, and fossil fuels, which play a crucial role in the regional and global economy. Transportation infrastructure, such as the Trans-Siberian Railway, is vital for connecting its vast expanses.
