Pysäkkisuoja

Pysäkkisuoja is a sheltered structure located at public transport stops in Finland, designed to protect passengers from weather while waiting for buses, trams, or trains. A typical pysäkkisuoja includes a roof, seating and/or benches, and side panels or screens. Modern shelters may also house route information, timetables, and real-time arrival displays, with lighting and security features for safety.

The primary purpose of pysäkkisuoja is weather protection—shielding passengers from rain, wind, snow, and cold conditions—while providing a visible and recognizable waiting area. Shelters help organize passenger flow, improve comfort, and contribute to safety by increasing visibility of the stop to approaching vehicles.
