Puoliperävaunuja, often translated as semi-trailers, are a type of trailer that utilizes its own weight and the weight of its cargo to gain sufficient traction for towing. Unlike a full trailer, which has its own front axle and is therefore fully supported by its own wheels, a semi-trailer lacks a front axle. Instead, its front end is supported by a fifth wheel coupling on the tractor unit.
