Prämolar refers to a type of tooth located in the mouth of mammals, situated between the canine teeth and the molars. Humans typically have two premolars on each side of the upper jaw and two on each side of the lower jaw, totaling eight premolars in an adult dentition. These teeth are also known as bicuspids because they generally possess two cusps, which are the pointed or rounded projections on the chewing surface of the tooth.
