Prosessoriujärjestelmät, often referred to as processing systems or processor systems, encompass the interconnected components responsible for executing computational tasks. At its core is the central processing unit (CPU), the brain of the system, which fetches, decodes, and executes instructions. Supporting the CPU are various other crucial elements.

Memory is a fundamental part of any processing system. This includes primary memory, or RAM (Random Access Memory), which stores data and instructions that the CPU needs to access quickly. Secondary storage, such as hard drives or solid-state drives, provides long-term storage for data and programs.

Input/output (I/O) devices allow the system to interact with the external world. Input devices, like keyboards and mice, send data to the system, while output devices, such as monitors and printers, display or convey the results of processing.

These components are orchestrated by the system's architecture, which defines how they communicate and work together. This architecture dictates the flow of data and control signals. Furthermore, software, including operating systems and applications, provides the instructions that the hardware executes, enabling users to perform a wide range of tasks, from simple calculations to complex simulations. The efficiency and capability of a processing system are determined by the performance of its individual components and the effectiveness of their integration.
