The term is not tied to a single standardized specification, but it is useful for modeling brightness-related characteristics in software, datasets, and workflows.

Key components often associated with propertiesbrightness include luminance, perceptual brightness, and exposure. Luminance measures the physical power per unit area emitted or reflected by a surface and is commonly expressed in units such as nits or as a normalized 0–1 value in software.
