Profilsysteme

Profilsysteme are modular framing systems consisting of standardized profiles that can be joined with a range of connectors to form structures such as frames, supports, enclosures, and architectural elements.

Profiles are typically extruded aluminum, steel, or rigid plastic, and often feature longitudinal slots that accept nuts and brackets (T-slots). Components include corner brackets, end plates, fasteners, covers, and end caps, as well as panels, gaskets, and feet. The systems are designed to be assembled and reconfigured without special tooling, enabling flexible layouts and easy maintenance.

Applications include machine frames and gantries in manufacturing and automation, guard enclosures, workstations, shelving, display and exhibition stands, partition walls, and mounting frames for solar panels or façades. They are used in industrial settings as well as in architectural interiors and exhibition environments.

Advantages of Profilsysteme include modularity and rapid reconfiguration, light weight (notably with aluminum), good strength-to-weight, corrosion resistance, easy assembly with standard tools, and high recyclability. The systems are designed to accommodate panels, electronics, and various accessories, allowing integrated solutions for mechanical, electrical, and enclosure needs.

In practice, many manufacturers offer compatible profile families, allowing interchangeability of profiles, fasteners, and add-ons. The concept emerged with extrusion technology in the 20th century and has become widespread in Europe and beyond for rapid, flexible construction of frames and structures.
