Prodüksiyon

Prodüksiyon is a Turkish term used for the process of creating media projects, including planning, financing, and execution. It denotes both the overall production process and the production unit or company within a media organization (prodüksiyon şirketi). The term is cognate with the English word production and shares its meaning across film, television, theatre, music, and event production.

The production process is commonly divided into stages: pre-production, production, and post-production. Pre-production covers concept development, script development, budgeting, scheduling, casting, location scouting, and securing permits. Production encompasses the actual creation: directing, filming or recording, set design, lighting, sound, costumes, and logistics. Post-production includes editing, visual effects, sound design, color correction, music composition, and final mix, leading to distribution.

Key roles include the producer, executive producer, line producer, director, production manager, production designer, cinematographer, sound recordist, editor, and composer. Production management focuses on budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, risk assessment, and safety compliance; production companies may handle logistics, rights, contracts, and vendor relationships.

In Turkish usage, prodüksiyon may also refer to the department within a media organization responsible for overseeing these activities, as well as to the entity that provides production services. The term is used across media sectors and can be paired with terms like prodüksiyon şirketi (production company) and prodüksiyon hizmetleri (production services).
