In visual product recognition, systems analyze images of products to match them against a database of known items. This involves feature extraction, where distinctive characteristics of the product are identified, followed by a comparison to a reference library. Machine learning models, particularly deep learning networks, have shown significant success in improving the accuracy and speed of this process, even with variations in lighting, angle, or background.

A scanner reads this pattern, allowing for quick and precise identification. RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) offers a contactless alternative, using radio waves to transmit data from an RFID tag attached to the product to a reader.
