Achieving productioncapability often requires stable processes, properly maintained tooling, documented standard work, preventive maintenance, and reliable suppliers. Assessment methods commonly involve capacity planning, pilot runs, first-article inspection, and statistical process control. A product or line is considered productioncapable when first articles meet specifications, process capability indices meet targets (such as Cp and Cpk), and the operation can sustain the required output rate at target quality with acceptable cost and lead times.
