The word combines printti 'print' with versi-oille (the illative/dative plural ending of versio, 'version'), signaling versions intended for physical output rather than digital distribution.

It is commonly used in workflows to distinguish assets and files that are ready for print from drafts or digital variants. Typical print versions include layout files, print-ready PDFs, vector graphics, embedded fonts or substitutions, and color management settings (CMYK, ICC profiles), as well as instructions for trimming, bleed, and binding.

Standards and formats: Printtiversioille files are often prepared as PDF/X or PDF formats with embedded fonts and color profiles; raster images are typically 300 dpi; appropriate bleed and safe margins; and metadata documenting version, language, and intended press.
