Prietaisus is a fictional genus of small, nocturnal, arboreal mammals described in speculative biology and fantasy literature. It comprises two species, Prietaisus minor and Prietaisus grandis. Members are about 20–28 cm in body length, with a prehensile tail, rounded ears, and dense gray fur with iridescent guard hairs. They have an omnivorous diet that includes fruits, seeds, insects, and small invertebrates, and they exhibit distinctive facial vibrissae and a brief social call repertoire used in territory defense and kin signaling.

Habitat and range: Endemic to temperate forest islands in the fictional Valinor Archipelago. They favor mid-canopy refuges in moist, cool forests, using hollow trees and bromeliads for shelter and roosting.

Behavior and reproduction: They are primarily solitary by day and nocturnal foragers. They maintain small, overlapping ranges and show flexible foraging strategies. Breeding is seasonal, with a gestation of roughly 38–42 days and typically one to two offspring per litter. Young are altricial and depend on the mother for several months.
