Preknowing refers to the perceived ability to foresee future events before they occur, often described as an intuitive or extrasensory experience. While not formally recognized within mainstream scientific frameworks, the concept has been explored in various cultural, spiritual, and psychological contexts. Individuals who claim to possess this ability often describe it as a sudden insight, a vivid dream, or an inexplicable sense of anticipation about an upcoming event.

The phenomenon has been documented in anecdotal accounts across different societies, where people report preknowing significant life events, such as accidents, personal losses, or major life changes. Some attribute this to synchronicity—a term coined by psychologist Carl Jung to describe meaningful coincidences that lack a causal connection. Others link it to heightened intuition, subconscious pattern recognition, or even psychological mechanisms like confirmation bias, where individuals interpret ambiguous information to fit their expectations.

In paranormal and metaphysical traditions, preknowing is sometimes associated with psychic abilities, precognition, or divine intervention. Certain spiritual practices, such as meditation or channeling, are believed to enhance one’s capacity to receive such insights.
