Precursoritarianism

Precursoritarianism is a philosophical and theological concept that emphasizes the significant role of precursors, or preceding entities, in the creation and existence of subsequent things. It posits that the fundamental nature, potential, and even the very possibility of any given entity are determined by what came before it. This can manifest in various ways, from the dependence of a child on its parents to the influence of past events on present circumstances, or in a more metaphysical sense, the dependence of all existence on an initial or foundational cause.

In theological contexts, precursoritarianism often aligns with the idea of divine creation, where God, as the ultimate precursor, imbues the universe and its inhabitants with their being and purpose. The divine plan, viewed as a historical progression, highlights the predetermined nature of events stemming from this initial divine act. This perspective can lead to interpretations of destiny and providence, suggesting that current realities are inherently shaped by foundational truths or intentions established by these precursors.

From a secular philosophical standpoint, precursoritarianism can be seen in theories of causality and historical determinism. It suggests that understanding any phenomenon requires a thorough examination of its origins and the chain of events that led to its current state. This emphasis on lineage and origin underscores the idea that nothing arises in a vacuum, and that the past holds the keys to understanding the present and predicting the future. The concept is not about the precursor being identical to the successor, but rather about the precursor providing the necessary conditions, framework, or essence for the successor to emerge and exist.
