Prebases
Prebases are a type of cosmetic product designed to be applied to the skin before foundation. Their primary purpose is to create a smoother canvas for makeup application, improve the longevity of foundation, and sometimes offer additional skincare benefits. Prebases, also known as primers, come in various formulations to address different skin concerns. Some are designed to mattify oily skin, reducing shine and preventing makeup from creasing. Others are formulated to hydrate dry skin, plumping it up and creating a dewy finish. There are also prebases that aim to color-correct imperfections, such as redness or sallowness, by using complementary pigments. Silicone-based prebases are common and help to fill in pores and fine lines, creating a very smooth surface. Water-based prebases are generally lighter and may be preferred by those with sensitive skin or for a more natural feel. Some prebases also contain ingredients like SPF for sun protection or antioxidants for anti-aging benefits. The choice of prebase often depends on an individual's skin type and desired makeup finish.
