Praxisreife

Praxisreife is a term used in German-speaking education to describe the degree to which a learner is prepared to apply knowledge and skills in real work situations. It goes beyond theoretical understanding and encompasses the ability to plan, execute and review professional tasks in a manner appropriate to a given occupation.

The concept includes technical or procedural competence (knowing how to perform relevant tasks safely and according to professional standards), personal competence (responsibility, reliability, time management) and social competence (communication, teamwork, customer orientation). Reflective and adaptive abilities, such as the willingness to learn from feedback and to adjust actions, are also part of Praxisreife.

Praxisreife is used mainly in vocational education and training, apprenticeship programs, and school-based practice tracks in German-speaking countries. It is often a criterion for starting an internship or completing practical phases and may be assessed through internships, practical exams, portfolios and supervisor evaluations. There is no single universal standard; definitions and assessment methods vary by country, state or program.
