Portabilni

Portabilni is a Czech term describing something that is portable, meaning it can be carried or easily transported. In everyday use it covers objects, devices, and software that can be moved, used, or transferred between places or systems with minimal effort. The word derives from Latin portare, “to carry,” and is cognate with the English word portable.

Usage spans several domains. In hardware, portabilní devices are laptops, tablets, smartphones, and other equipment designed for mobility and use outside a fixed workstation. In software, portabilní programs refer to applications that do not require installation on a specific computer and can run from removable media or cloud-synced locations; portable software is common for utility suites and for software intended to leave no permanent traces on a host system.

In information technology and data policy, portability also refers to the ease of transferring data between systems or formats. The concept is central to interoperability and is legally manifested in the right to data portability under data protection frameworks such as the European Union’s GDPR, which permits individuals to obtain and reuse their personal data across services.
