Pootproblemen, or paw problems, is a general term used to describe a variety of ailments affecting the paws of animals, most commonly dogs and cats. These issues can range from minor irritations to severe conditions requiring veterinary intervention. Common causes include injuries such as cuts, abrasions, burns, or foreign objects lodged in the paw. Environmental factors like extreme temperatures, rough terrain, or contact with irritant chemicals can also lead to discomfort and damage.

Infections, both bacterial and fungal, are another significant cause of paw problems. These can manifest as redness, swelling, itching, and discharge. Signs of paw problems include limping, excessive licking or chewing of the paws, redness, swelling, limping, sensitivity to touch, or the presence of wounds, blisters, or foreign bodies. Prompt veterinary attention is crucial for accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment, which may involve wound care, medication, dietary changes, or management of underlying health issues.
