Polümerisaatset

Polümerisaatset, often referred to as polyacetal or POM, is a high-performance engineering thermoplastic. It is characterized by its excellent mechanical properties, including high stiffness, strength, and fatigue resistance. Polümerisaatset also exhibits low friction, good wear resistance, and dimensional stability across a range of temperatures and humidity levels. Its chemical resistance is also notable, particularly to organic solvents, fuels, and oils.

The production of polümerisaatset involves the polymerization of formaldehyde or trioxane. This process results in a polymer chain with repeating oxymethylene (-CH2-O-) units. There are two main types: homopolymers and copolymers. Homopolymers, derived from pure trioxane, generally offer higher stiffness and tensile strength. Copolymers, which incorporate small amounts of comonomers like ethylene oxide, provide improved thermal and chemical stability, as well as better resistance to hot water and alkaline solutions.

Due to its favorable combination of properties, polümerisaatset finds widespread application in various industries. It is commonly used for manufacturing precision parts, gears, bearings, automotive components (such as fuel system parts and seatbelt mechanisms), electrical insulators, and consumer goods like zippers and appliance parts. Its ability to be easily molded and machined makes it a versatile material for both mass production and specialized applications requiring tight tolerances and durability.
