Polyimiditbased polymers refer to a class of synthetic polymers that incorporate imidite- or imidazole-derived motifs into their structure. The term is not standardized and appears mainly in limited research contexts; in some uses it overlaps with polymers containing imidazole rings or with polyimide-like materials. In general, polyimiditbased materials are pursued for the ability to modulate acidity, ionic interactions, and coordination with metal centers through engineered imidazole- or imidite-containing units.

Structural features vary, but common designs include backbone segments built from aromatic or aliphatic units bearing pendant imidazole rings, or backbones containing imidite linkages that resemble, but are distinct from, classical imide linkages. These motifs provide sites for hydrogen bonding, proton transfer, and metal coordination, enabling tunable thermal and chemical performance.
