Polyamideista is a nonstandard term used in some corners of fashion, design, and materials science to describe a person who specializes in polyamide materials—a broad class of polymers that includes nylon fibers, resins, and composites. A polyamideista may work as a textile designer, materials researcher, product engineer, or curator who centers polyamide-based solutions in their practice. The label signals emphasis on properties such as durability, chemical resistance, moisture management, and processability, as well as lifecycle considerations from production to end-of-life.

Origins of the term are informal; it lacks formal certification or universal usage. In practice, polyamideistas may engage in activities such as selecting and testing polyamide fibers for performance in technical textiles, developing polyamide-based composites for automotive or aerospace applications, or exploring additive manufacturing with nylon polymers (for example PA12) and recycled polyamides. They may study polymer blends, dyeing and finishing techniques, and recycling methods including mechanical and chemical recycling to reduce waste.

Educational backgrounds commonly include polymer science, materials engineering, textile engineering, or chemical engineering. The term is primarily found in niche industry discussions, design studios, and academic settings rather than as an established profession.
