Politiikkakehysten, also known as the political spectrum, is a conceptual framework used to categorize and analyze political ideologies and parties based on their positions on various issues. The spectrum typically ranges from left to right, with each side representing different views on economic, social, and political matters.

On the left side of the spectrum, known as the left-wing or leftist, ideologies often emphasize collective ownership, social welfare, and strong government intervention in the economy. Left-wing parties typically advocate for progressive policies such as universal healthcare, education, and social security, as well as greater equality and social justice.

In the center of the spectrum, centrist or moderate parties aim to balance the interests of different groups. They often support a mix of conservative and liberal policies, focusing on stability, compromise, and incremental change. Centrist parties may prioritize issues like economic growth, infrastructure development, and maintaining social order.

On the right side of the spectrum, known as the right-wing or conservative, ideologies generally favor individualism, free markets, and limited government intervention. Right-wing parties often support policies that promote personal freedom, private property rights, and traditional values. They may prioritize issues such as fiscal conservatism, law and order, and national security.

The political spectrum is not static and can shift over time as new issues emerge and public opinions evolve. Additionally, the spectrum is not a strict dichotomy, and many political parties and ideologies fall somewhere in between the extremes. Understanding the political spectrum is essential for analyzing political trends, predicting election outcomes, and comprehending the diverse range of views within a society.
