Plesiadapis is an extinct genus of plesiadapid mammals from the Paleocene, often described as part of the stem primate or near-primate lineage. It lived roughly 66 to 56 million years ago, with fossils primarily from North America and also from some European sites. As one of the better-known plesiadapids, Plesiadapis helps illuminate early adaptations that predate true primates, though it is not itself considered a true primate.
