Pigmenttiläiskät, also known as age spots or liver spots, are flat, darkened areas on the skin that appear with age. They are most common on sun-exposed areas like the face, hands, shoulders, and arms. These spots are caused by an overproduction of melanin, the pigment that gives skin its color. While they are a natural part of aging and are harmless, their appearance can be influenced by prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun.
